‘Chernobyl and Pripyat’

“My interest in photography started when I was fairly young; the balance back then was probably less to do with capturing images and more toward the fact that my dad owned several cameras and I just liked playing with tactile, mechanical objects. When I was older I lived overseas for a short time and it was here that I started to concentrate on it a lot more. Initially it was a way to share the places I was visiting with friends and family back home, but an artist I was living with at the time saw something in what I was doing and urged me to open up my creativity and take it bit more seriously.
Photography as a medium has paired nicely with my love of exploring various areas and I use it to share not just how I see a space but also to try and capture the feeling I had while being there. When I'm shooting an area I try not to tell a story, but rather share the story that was being told to me by the space itself.”
