Trish Evans ‘Roaming Landscapes’

“My paintings form an expanding body of work called Roaming Landscapes, sharing my experiences of places hiked, paddled or simply sat within. It is colour and light that initially captures my attention. It is my intention then to create a sense of place that my audience can recognize or wish to experience for themselves. My process typically involves charcoal and pastel drawings directly from the setting and from photos taken to establish a composition and palette that leads the eye comfortably into and around the landscape. While my practice involves smaller studies, I prefer to paint larger scale when resolving a painting and find the rich colour and sense of slowness of oil paint best for conveying my intentions.”
